"Photography has been an interest of mine for awhile now, and it has really started to bloom during the past few years. I've learned a lot by reading books and blogs, and of course by taking lots of pictures! I enjoy capturing childrens' personalities in photos, as well as taking photos of nature. The subject of this photo is a marigold bud I found in my yard :) I also love playing and teaching piano, learning Hebrew, dancing, art, and organizing."

Meet Ken Erickson, winner of the August 2009 LensPainter Photography Contest!

"I really enjoy the basics of B&W imagery as I'm drawn to the focus on illumination...the simplicity of tones between dark and light. My submitted photograph depicts a subterranean level of the infamous federal penitentiary, Alcatraz. I was fortunate to join a recent Canon hosted tour of the island specifically for photographers that I'll never forget."

His photo of a hall beneath Alzatraz instantly stood out to our guest judge, Mac McMeans. Congratulations!

Creative Blurs Winner!

Meet Patrick, the Grand Prize winner in the official LensPainter Photography photo competition!

"My name is Patrick Lessard and I live in Kenora ON. Canada. I've been interested in photography for a number of years. Now it has grown into a passion instead of a past-time. My main interest is nature. To keep my hobby going I work in the school system and community with kids/adults with disabilities. "

July's theme was Creative Blurs, and although there were many outstanding entries, Patrick's shot of a fire dancer really stood out among the rest of the entries. Congratulations!

My hubby and a couple of friends discovered an amazing new band while at Sumemerfest 2009 two weeks ago: Katzenjammer. Here are a few pictures I took of their two shows (yes, we watched both!) More pics of Summerfest in general can be seen here.

Birthday Weekend!

Just got back yesterday from a delightful three-day weekend with my hubby. He totally spoiled me, seeing as how it was also my birthday ;)

One of the things we did was go to the Indianapolis Zoo, and I wanted to let you all know that the rest of the pics can be viewed here.

Bright Ideas!

Well here's some news worth sharing... LensPainter Photography is now hosting a monthly photo contest! To participate, all you have to do is be an amateur/hobby photographer and make sure you're a part of our fan base on Facebook. The contest starts in July and the theme will be Creative Blurs. An update... finally!

Hair Accessory Photo Shoot

As promised, here are some of my favorite images from the shoot on the 24th of January!

Photo Shoot

This past Saturday I had a really great photo shoot. A client of mine designs hair bows for girls, and she wanted to branch out from the girly-girls she catered to, and do something that would appeal to other girls as well.

I met her at the Dayton Art Institute along with four beautiful models... girls who happened to have a very distinct and punk style. We shot at least 20 hair accessories in about an hour, and I'm processing the pictures now. I'll add some tomorrow when I've finished them... I'm really quite proud!

I'm Katrina Diaz, owner/operator of LensPainter Photography. I specialize in outdoor and natural light imagery, and my work has been recognized and awarded on local, national and international levels. I provide photographic services of all kinds to those living in Ohio; for weddings, I will travel out of state and even out of country. Destination wedding? Bring it on!
